Moab Mountain Bike Vacation
Trails
The Whole Enchilada

The Whole Enchilada is certainly the most renowned trail in Moab, if not the Southwest. To ride the Whole Enchilada in its entirety means starting after July, usually, when all of the snow has melted off of Burro Pass. From there, you get a true alpine to desert experience with 8,000 feet of descent.

Slickrock
The Whole Enchilada might be the most renowned trail experience in Moab, but Slickrock is probably the most popular. Slickrock has a more family-friendly reputation because of the shorter practice loop that is towards the beginning, and because it’s less demanding than the Enchilada. The steep descents and punchy climbs on the full loop are one of the closest simulations to riding a rollercoaster on your bike.

HyMasa/Captain Ahab
The HyMasa and Captain Ahab loop is a perfect ride when you can’t commit to a full day. In less than ten miles and 1,400 feet of climbing, you’re treated to one of the most fun, purpose-built descents in Moab. It’s fast in some areas, technical in others, and fun in all. Stop and take in the view of Moab’s canyon floors below you before you drop into Captain Ahab.

Mag 7
Mag 7 is another epic Moab trail on the other side of town. In contrast to The Whole Enchilada, there’s a little more climbing and a little less descending, but also less mileage. If you’re shuttling from town, look left to the massive canyon walls on the west side of the road to get an idea of where you’ll be riding. After Bull Run, you’ll find yourself on Gold Bar Rim, hugging the cliff’s ledge, picking your way through expert lines, or less advanced lines that trace their way down back towards the road.

Moab Brewery
Somewhere in history, bikes and beer became synonymous. “Let’s get a beer after the ride,” always seems to be the last words before making the final descent. Moab Brewery is where those riders go while in town. Most everyone in there has come in for a cold one after a day in the desert sun. All their beer is brewed in house, and to make it even sweeter there’s an ice cream shop inside too.
